Quest Mode in GunZ: The Duel: Co-op PvE, Bosses & Quest Items
The Other Half of GunZ
Everything else on this site is about fighting players; Quest mode is where you fight the game. Classic GunZ Quest is wave-based co-op PvE: your party enters a dungeon room, clears escalating monster waves, and — if the room was set up for it — faces boss encounters at the end. The Steam remaster ships with Quest/co-op PvE as a launch mode (it is one of the store page’s listed categories).
Quest Items and Combinations
The classic system that veterans remember: quest items drop from PvE runs, and placing specific items when starting a quest modifies it — raising difficulty tiers and unlocking boss encounters (the community’s beloved Goblin King runs among them). Item-combination recipes were community-documented lore in the classic era.
We are re-verifying the exact remaster recipes before publishing tables — classic-era combos may not carry over 1:1, and we do not print unconfirmed data. This page will be updated as the community consensus for the remaster settles; the mechanic itself (sacrifice items → harder quest → better drops) is the part you can rely on now.
Loadout Advice for PvE
Duel loadouts are not automatically right for Quest:
- Sustained fire earns its keep — rifles and SMGs, B-tier for duels, are comfortable against monster waves
- Bring medkits — item slots matter far more in PvE than in duels
- High ground is king — wall tech (see our wall cancel guide) lets you hold positions most mobs handle poorly
- Party up: rewards and pacing are built around groups, and launch-event currency accumulates while you farm
Why Quest Matters at Launch
The Aug 13 - Oct 6 launch event exchanges event currency earned through gameplay for rewards — Quest runs are a relaxed way to farm it while you drill K-Style basics between waves.
