Slash Shot in GunZ: The Duel (Damage Cancel Tutorial)
The Technique That Wins Duels
A slash shot cancels a sword slash into an instant weapon swap and shot — classically with a shotgun. The result: your shotgun fires during movement animations that would normally lock you, and by chaining slash shots you can alternate shotguns and effectively skip reload downtime. This is why shotguns have topped the community meta for twenty years, and why our tier list ranks them S.
How It Feels To Learn
The input chain is slash → swap → fire in one fluid motion (mid-air, usually inside a butterfly rhythm). Expectations:
- Your first sessions will fire late or not at all — the cancel window is tight and rhythm-based
- Learn it stationary first, then inside jumps, then inside the butterfly
- The classic community reference guides (StrategyWiki’s Korean-Style pages and the long-form YouTube tutorials) break the chain down frame-by-frame if you want the deep version
Double Shotgun
Carrying two shotguns and alternating them through slash shots is the classic competitive loadout (see our loadouts page). While one is “reloading,” you are already firing the other out of a cancel.
Etiquette Note
Some casual rooms — especially Gladiator (sword-only) rooms — run house rules that restrict cancels or guns entirely. Room titles usually say so; respecting them is long-standing GunZ culture.
